Explanation
Synchronizer rings (aka synchro rings) were originally made utilizing a compressed paper lining. This all changed in 1998 when Tremec began the transition to carbon fiber-lined synchro rings, which was done in order to increase torque-handling capability and improve shift smoothness. Once this transition was completed, the old rings were gradually phased out. These days, the only new synchro ring that can be found is the “upgraded” carbon fiber version.
Seals: There are only two seals, the input and output. The input seal is OEM while the output is a metal aftermarket version. There are a handful of variations of these seals, all of which we’ve tried and tested over the years. Based on our building experience, the seals you see here are the best so that’s exactly what we offer in our kits.
Shift fork pads are original Tremec (GM) parts. Made of a wear-resistant plastic.
Tailhousing bushing is a direct replacement.
Shifter cup bushing is an aftermarket wear-resistant plastic
