T56 Bronze Shift Fork Pad Kit

Important: The fork pad area of the shift forks must be clearanced in order for the bronze pads to bottom completely out. This is due to the fact the pad is a precision-machined billet part, whereas the shift fork is a casting. Simply smooth out the sharp corners and casting lines. Then pads will press on, into place. See instructions below.

1. You will need to grind down the corners of the shift fork(s) in order for the pad to bottom out completely.
2. This can be tested by sliding the synchro sleeve onto the fork after installing fork pads. It should go on smoothly.
3. If it doesn’t slide smoothly, then more clearance is needed for the pads to be completely seated.
4. Do not grind the pads down. Only grind the corners of the fork where the pads go.

• The forks are meant for a plastic stock pad to snap onto, which have a loose fit.
• Bronze fork pads rely on a press-fit since it’s not possible for them to snap into place.
• The forks are not machined with the tight tolerance that a press-fit bronze fork pad requires.
• The corners need to be rounded off in order for the pad to become fully seated.
