- You will need to grind down the corners of the shift fork(s) in order for the pad to bottom out completely.
- This can be tested by sliding the synchro sleeve onto the fork after installing fork pads. It should go on smoothly.
- If it doesn’t slide smoothly, then more clearance is needed for the pads to be completely seated.
- Do not grind the pads down. Only grind the corners of the fork where the pads go.
- The forks are meant for a plastic stock pad to snap onto, which have a loose fit.
- Bronze fork pads rely on a press-fit since it’s not possible for them to snap into place.
- The forks are not machined with the tight tolerance that a press-fit bronze fork pad requires.
- The corners need to be rounded off in order for the pad to become fully seated.
